End of the winter season
As we end the winter season of the Down East Yacht Club, I want to give thanks to all of those members who gave of their time, and opened their homes to our members. Here in Maine we were hosted by Bob and Carol McCarthy, Dusty and Amy Goodwin, Skip and Jane Williams, Mike and Sue Scannon, Bill and Anne George, and Aaron and Christine Blake. A great time was had by all members who attended and I especially want to thank Jim and Betty Hunton for some great entertainment at our house, rock-on.
Our Florida snowbirds also held winter gatherings this year along with the Annual Gathering in Sarasota. Thanks go to Geoff and Shirley Geoffrion, Lee and Arletta Wilbur, John and Pat Ridlon, and Sandy and Karen Young. A great time was had by the snowbirds this year. The Annual Gathering was held at the Sarasota Field House. The former “winter home” of Stanley and Sara Field, of Marshall Fields retail stores in Chicago. A big thanks to those who put this lovely event on: Murphy Stevens, Shirley Geoffrion, Pat Ridlon and Pat Bisson.
In closing, I am looking forward to the new season with the Commodores Luncheon, held at DiMillo's on May 11. Our new Commodore Matt Carlson and his wife Charlinda have put together great events for the summer season and the Fleet Captain George Hamilton and his wife Theresa have a super cruise lined up. Looking forward to attending and reporting on these great events.
