Faith Beehler Marsland
Faith Beehler Marsland of William Hill Manor, Easton, Md., died at the age of 94 on September 3, 2013.
She was born on June 20, 1919 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., where she lived until her first marriage to John C. Jankus Jr. in 1941.
Over the years, Faith gave many volunteer hours to help those in need. In 1959, Gov. J. Caleb Boggs of Delaware awarded her honorary chairman of mental health for her 246 volunteer hours at a hospital for the mentally challenged.
In 1962, she was president of the Mid-Del chapter of the Delaware Association of Retarded Children. Faith championed the cause for mentally challenged adults to find gainful employment.
In later years, she enjoyed many hours of sailing with her husband John Marsland on their 37-foot schooner on the Chesapeake and the waters of Boothbay, Maine. Faith is survived by her three children, Elizabeth (Brooks) Jankus Scofield of Rock Hall, Md., Kathryn Jankus Day of Worton, Md., and John Carl Jankus III of Newark, Del., a brother, John Beehler of Albuquerque, N.M., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Faith’s life will be held at Christ Church in St. Michaels, Md., on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. Internment will follow the service in the Church Columbarium.
