First meeting of Lincoln County’s “100+ Women Who Care” Oct. 7
Give back to community—in community—at the stunning rural barn at Wanderwood, 79 Sidelinger Road, Nobleboro, on Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. To date, the local chapter of “100+ Women Who Care Lincoln County, Maine” has enrolled over 120 women who have made a commitment to gather quarterly, give locally and connect personally. The chapter will hold its first meeting with a mission of supporting—and celebrating—the work of local non-profits. For those interested in participating, there is still time to sign up. Membership forms are available on the organization’s website and members are encouraged to RSVP for the inaugural event so attendance can be estimated.
The chapter is thrilled to have approved a dozen eligible organizations for potential future funding, and the expanding list is available on their website. Approved non-profits include: Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library; Boothbay Sea & Science Center; Charles and Constance Schmid Land Preserve; Coastal Kids Preschool; Community Energy Fund of Lincoln County; Community Heating Improvement Project: Darrowby Farm Sanctuary; Francis Perkins Center; Healthy Kids; Healthy Lincoln County; Lincoln County Historical Association; Maine Art Gallery, and Skidompha Library.
At the Oct. 7 event, refreshments will be provided in the form of light bites and warm drinks. Event attendance is free, though a donation to offset costs for the quarterly meetings is welcomed since all membership fees go entirely to selected non-profits. The attire is casual and attendees will be able to mingle outside, weather permitting. A social hour will be held between 5 and 6 to allow people to connect with new and dear friends alike. The meeting will begin promptly at 6, and the evening will conclude by 7. During the meeting, the names of three member-nominated area non-profits will be drawn at random. The nominating members will present a five-minute overview of the work being accomplished by the non-profit they’re championing. Members in the audience vote for the non-profit they’d like to fund. Votes are tallied. One organization is selected to receive the “Impact Donation” from 100+ Women Who Care, Lincoln County. Only members may vote. Attendees will also hear a brief presentation from Kelsey Gibbs and Matt Silverman about their bountiful Wanderwood event venue designed to holistically nourish people as they intentionally connect with nature and one another.
Please consider carpooling to the event to avoid car congestion in the venue’s fields. Parking attendants will be on hand to help direct attendees, and those needing accessibility parking can choose from a few spots immediately outside the event center. The chapter invites members to invite friends to become members. The more members, the greater the impact.
The leadership team welcomes interested community members to browse the chapter’s website at https://womenwhocarelincolncountymaine.org/ or their social media for more information about becoming an approved non-profit, the nomination process, membership details and more. Additional quarterly events are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences on Jan. 6, 2026, Boothbay Region YMCA on April 7 and Waldoboro Inn on July 7. Join “100+ Women Who Care Lincoln County” for vibrant and diverse gatherings that prove there’s strength in numbers. Because together we are a wave of change.
