Gordon Forrest Orff, 55, of Jefferson died Thursday, Oct. 11 2012 at Maine Medical Center in Portland surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Augusta on August 21, 1957, the son of Althea Orff. He grew up in Jefferson and attended local schools and was a graduate of Lincoln Academy class of 1977.

After high school he went on to work for the state of Maine, working on bridges throughout the state doing maintenance and upkeep. After working for the state for a number of years he went on to work as a sternman for Mike Reilly aboard the F/V Michelle.

When he was not working he could be found riding his motorcycle, or at a party with his family and friends. He was an animal lover and was always bringing home new pets for his daughter, Alexandria. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping.

He was not a fan of the cold weather so he would take many trips to Florida and dreamed of someday retiring there. He loved to travel taking trips with his family to Florida, New Jersey, New Hampshire or anywhere else his daughter may have wanted to go.

His family was very important to him and he made sure to always be there for them with whatever they may need. He was a straight shooter and told it like it was, a trait the family will miss. He will be forever loved and sadly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his daughter Alexandria Orff of Jefferson; sister Tina Brilyea-Giles of East Boothbay;

brother Daniel Brilyea of Jefferson; grandchildren Eliza and William “Bretley” McClintick; girlfriend Khristy Carter of Warren; uncles Roger Orff of Jefferson and Richard Dyer of Palermo; nephews Richard Genthner of Waldoboro and Derek Brilyea of Jefferson; niece Emily Eastman of Waldoboro; and grandniece Maddie Genthner of Waldoboro.

A celebration of life will be held at the house of Dan Brilyea, 19 Valley Road, Jefferson on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. All attending are asked to bring something to share as this will be a potluck event.
