Grant provides exercise equipment for Wiscasset students

Wiscasset Middle School now has 45 exercise balls for students to sit on during class, two stationary bikes in the hallways for students to ride, exercise bands and fitness routines in the hallways for quick workouts, and 95 pedometers for students to wear. All of this was made possible by a $1,000 Let’s Go grant.
The grant application was focused on our school theme of Fitness Anytime, Anywhere. With the $1,000, the 5210 Champion was able to purchase equipment to support the theme. All the equipment is available to students to be used throughout the day. Currently, there are 90 students wearing pedometers throughout the school day and recording the number of steps they took for three weeks in the first 5210 Step Challenge.
Wiscasset Middle School also was given a stationary bike from Sue Fleck that has been added to the fitness station in the fifth/sixth grade wing.
