Haitian girl awaiting surgery with Dresden family
Tue, 10/16/2012 - 6:30pm
A Dresden family is hosting a Haitian girl set to have heart surgery Friday. Rose Julie Reby arrived in Maine late Sunday, Oct. 14, Nancy Call said.
This is Reby's second stay with the Call family on Blinn Hill Road. On Monday, a Scarborough cardiologist determined Reby, now about 13, needs a heart valve replaced, Call said. That will happen at Maine Medical Center in Portland, she said.
The family first hosted Reby 2 years ago when she had surgery for a congenital heart defect. That first operation had been delayed for several months due to Haiti's disastrous January 2010 earthquake.
