Healthy Lincoln County welcomes AmeriCorps worker
This summer, Healthy Lincoln County welcomes Catherine Czajkowski, an AmeriCorps Summer VISTA, to assist with the summer food service program. Czajkowski graduated in 2012 from the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she studied environmental design and planning. Passionate about community service, Czajkowski was excited when she found the opportunity to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA with Healthy Lincoln County.
AmeriCorps creates opportunities for young professionals by placing members with local agencies and nonprofits to help solve critical community problems. During their service period, AmeriCorps members work to build capacity of existing program, such as the summer food service program. Through an intensive period of service, AmeriCorps members positively impact the communities in which they serve.
Throughout her summer of service, Czajkowski will be helping staff at Healthy Lincoln County serve free summer meals for kids and teens at five sites throughout Lincoln County. These include the Miller School, Damariscotta YMCA, Wiscasset Community Center, Medomak Valley High School and Warren School ACES program. The Summer Food Service Program provides free meals for all kids 18 years and younger while creating a fun place for kids to come together and play. For more information about Summer Meals sites in your area please check 2-1-1.
The Summer food service program is constantly expanding and is always looking for volunteers to transport meal and serve meals at our various sites. You may contact Czajkowski and the program at programs@healthylincolncounty.org or 207-563-1330.
