Jessica Gordon receives Sunshine Award at MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital
MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital is proud to announce that Jessica Gordon of Newcastle, a medical assistant II with MaineHealth Cancer Care and Blood Disorders Damariscotta, received the Sunshine Award on Sept. 17.
The Sunshine Award recognizes the special skills and compassionate care provided by nursing support staff. Recipients exemplify patient advocacy, leadership and teamwork while making a difference in the lives of patients and families.
Nominated by practice manager Jennifer Brookes, Gordon was honored for her initiative, leadership and dedication to patient care. She has developed innovative ideas now used across the MaineHealth Cancer Care and Blood Disorders service line, including improving scheduling, enhancing patient communication, addressing lab workflows, and even training in phlebotomyto make care more convenient for patients who may have difficulty traveling between departments.The award was presented by Brian Blethen, senior director of practice operations. Many of Gordon’s colleagues attended the presentation, and her three children joined via FaceTime.
“Jessica is a powerhouse,” Brookes wrote in her nomination. “She works tirelessly to ensure patient needs are met, questions are answered and her team is supported. She often steps in to help teammates in other specialties and goes above and beyond every day.”
