Annual Wiscasset K-12 Student Art Exhibition
Event Date
Thursday, April 09, 2026 - 11:00 am to 04:00 pmIt’s always a delight to see the world we live in through the eyes of young artists, and Maine Art Gallery is pleased to launch each new season with an exhibit of fresh and lively work by students. A reception to honor the students will be held on April 9 from 4 to 6 p.m.
This year, Wiscasset Middle High School art teacher Emily Dobson and Wiscasset Elementary art teacher Liz Proffetty have selected over 100 examples of drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and crafts from the multitude of projects created by their students.
The Wiscasset K-12 Student Art Exhibition will be open to the public Thursday, April 9 through Sunday, April 12. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to stop by the gallery in the Old Academy building at 15 Warren St. in Wiscasset and appreciate the imaginative creations of young minds.
Dobson and Proffetty believe quality art education programs empower students by fostering essential skills like creativity, critical thinking, and resilience that directly translate to improved academic performance and emotional well-being. Furthermore, they see art as a holistic tool for personal growth, social connection, and cultural awareness that prepares learners for success in school and life.
Maine Art Gallery gratefully acknowledges First National Bank, sponsor for the K-12 Student Art Show, season sponsor, Sherri Dunbar of Tim Dunham Realty, and capital sponsor, Ames True Value Hardware.
