Join us as Ian Fowler tells the fascinating story of George Sproule’s 1772 map of the Maine coast. An ensign in the British Army, Sproule drew a beautiful and amazingly detailed map, showing existing buildings as well as topographical details of an area from the Kennebec River to Round Pond and Muscongus Bay. Fowler connects this map to the “Atlantic Neptune”, considered the most important collection of maps and charts of North America in the 18th century.
