Louise "Mickey" DeAngelis Brown
Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. On December 26, 2025, Louise "Mickey" Elida DeAngelis Brownleft this world to be with our lord, with her sister by her side, as always. She was born on Sept. 24, 1943, daughter of Vincent M.C. DeAngelis and Louise K. (Moore) DeAngelis. She grew up in Auburn.
Later she moved to Ellsworth and attended Ellsworth High School where she met Curtis Brown. Mickey went on to graduate from License Practical Nursing School in Waterville. Then she went on to attend the The School of Nursing at Eastern Maine General Hospital in Bangor and became a registered nurse. Two days after graduation, Louise and Curtis married on Sept. 15, 1965. Curtis and Mickey moved to Maryland, Curt was deployed to Korea, and she worked at the Army base hospital. One day at 3 a.m., she called home so excited that she delivered her first baby.
Mickey worked in many nursing facilities, home health in MA., and nursing homes in Augusta and Boothbay Harbor. When Mickey moved to Boothbay Harbor, she started working at St. Andrews Hospital, the Gregory Wing. Mickey helped in the move to the new St. Andrews Village. She loved the patients and all she worked with. This career, she held in her heart the most. She was a hard worker with a smile on her face and love in her heart.
After retiring in in 2010, she went on to volunteer and joining many organizations. She volunteered at Togus Veterans Hospital, National Society Daughters of Colonial Wars, Inc., National Society of Women's Descendants of Ancient and Artillery Company, National Society United State Daughters of 1812, Maine Chapter of USA 1812, National Society of Daughters of American Revolution, Daughters of Father and Mother founder of Patriots, National Society of Women DAM and AC, National Society of Mayflower, Descendants of the Clan Kincaid, Scotland. Other Fraternal organizations are, Order of the Amaranth, Eastern Star, and a member of the Genealogical Society. When Mickey was young she was a Girl Scout, and later in life she and her mother became one of the first Daisy troop leaders in the area.
Louise had many awards during her lifetime. 2008-2009 the Veteran's American Legion presented her with recognition of outstanding service for our veterans, Order of Eastern Star, on July 5, 2021; awarded the Grand Chapter of Nevada to be the Grand Representative of Maine, and also awarded for Excellence in Long Term Care, recognizing her for professionalism and dedication in the field of long term care service.
Mickey loved spending time with her family on outings, birthdays and holidays. She doted on her family.
Mickey is predeceased by her father and mother, and step-mother Hilda Low DeAngelis. She leaves behind her sister Cathy McDaniel, her nieces, Maria McGuiggan (partner Terry) and Heather McDaniel (partner Henry). As well as her grandnephews, Dylan Plummer (partner Jalysa), and Hunter Ryan. Her ex-husband and friend, Curtis Brown. Her step-brother Robert Low, step-sister Sue Shields, and nephews Chris, Gary and Brett Leeman; cousins Jerilyn Candage and family, Edwin Moore and family, and Charles DeAngelis and family. Many other cousins on the Italian side, from mostly Auburn, Bath, Lewiston, Portland and Florida.
Louise "Mickey" DeAngelis Brown was a kind, sweet and loving soul. Mickey was very loved and will be missed fiercely by all she touched.
A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Mary's Church in Bath, in the gathering room, on Feb. 7 at 1 p.m.
