Maine Cornhole Classic returns Sept. 6 at the Railway Village
Get ready to toss some bags for a cause! The Maine Cornhole Classic (formerly known as the Boothbay Cornhole Classic) is back for its 5th year on Saturday, Sept. 6, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Railway Village in Boothbay. This charity tournament, run professionally by Real Wicked Events, promises a full day of friendly competition, live entertainment, and community spirit, all while raising funds for the Augusta Food Bank and Special Olympics Maine Unified Champion Clubs.
The Maine Cornhole Classic will feature two divisions:
Social Division – $60 per team, with trophies awarded to the top three teams.
Competitive Division – $80 per team, competing for a $2,000 cash purse for the top three teams.
The day’s entertainment will include music, a cash bar provided by Mine Oyster, a silent and live auction, and a 50/50 raffle. Back by popular demand is the thrilling Airmail Challenge, where contestants can take their shot at winning up to $1,000 in cash.
“The Maine Cornhole Classic is more than just tossing bags—it’s about giving back to our community,” said Sawyer Boulette, Co-Chair of the Maine Cornhole Classic and Operations Manager of the Augusta Food Bank. “Every bag tossed helps provide food for people who are struggling to make ends meet and supports inclusive sports opportunities for athletes across Maine. That’s what makes this event so special.”
“This tournament has grown into something truly unique,” added Rob Wheeler, president of J. Edward Kight Insurance and co-chair of the event. “It brings people together—players, sponsors, volunteers, and spectators—all to support two incredible causes. It’s competitive, it’s fun, and it’s making a real difference.”
Krystal Blackman-Navarrete, Maine Cornhole Classic Committee Member, highlighted what makes the day memorable for participants and attendees alike: “What I love most about this tournament is seeing people from all walks of life come together for a shared purpose. Whether you’re competing, cheering from the sidelines, or volunteering, you leave the event knowing you’ve contributed to something bigger than yourself.”
Whether you’re a seasoned player or new to the boards, the Maine Cornhole Classic is open to all. Gather your team, enjoy a day of music and camaraderie, and help support two great organizations that serve thousands of Mainers each year.
