Nine years is enough for Mike Smith as an Edgecomb selectman. In a Feb. 16 email, he notified the Boothbay Register of his decision not to seek a fourth term. The email stated, “This note is to inform you that I will not seek re election to the Select board. Thank you for your efforts in reporting on the Town over all these years. Wishing you the best of days.” Smith didn’t provide a reason for his decision.

Smith was first elected in 2015. He defeated Stuart Smith, who was seeking his fourth term. Mike Smith didn’t face opposition in his two re-election bids. Nomination papers for municipal  offices are available at the town office.
