No power
Wiscasset's primary, middle and high schools had a two-hour delay on Wednesday, Sept. 19.
School officials made the decision after overnight storms triggered a power outage at the buildings.
Power was restored by 8 a.m., officials said.
Central Maine Power officials said the heavy rain and high winds caused power outages statewide. The first call reporting power loss in Wiscasset was received at 4:15 a.m. from a Gardiner Road customer. Central Maine Power could not say exactly when power was restored in the area as 10,000 customers were still without power at 8:15 a.m.
Nearby in Georgetown, school was closed due to a power outage that occurred mid-evening, according to AOS 98 Superintendent of Schools Eileen King. King said without power the school had no water.
