Patrick D. Kendley

Major Patrick Darren Kendley of Boothbay Harbor passed away peacefully at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta with his loving family by his side at the age of 91.

He was born in Miles City, Montana to Ralph and Naomi (Overturf) Kendley.

In 1967 Patrick married the love of his life, Yvonne (Manning) Kendley. They were inseparable from day one.

Patrick served his country for 20 years in the Marine Corp, earning one Silver Star, two Bronze Stars one being with Valor and five Purple Hearts. He served in Korea and fought at the Battle of the Chosen Reservoir. He also was in Vietnam and was a part of multiple Special Operations there.

Patrick attended the University of Idaho while in the Marine Reserves and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Psychology and Public Relations. While at the University of Idaho, he played on the college’s football team. After graduating college, Patrick attended OCS (Officer Training School) where is became a commissioned officer of the Marine Corp. Patrick was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp in 1970.

In 1979 Patrick and Yvonne came to Maine where they settled in Boothbay then three years later made their permanent home in Boothbay Harbor. They traveled throughout Europe during their retirement with a special love for Ireland.

Patrick was a very active member at Our Lady Queen of Peace church in Boothbay Harbor and was a part of the Knights of Columbus.

Patrick enjoyed watching all sports and loved to play golf.

Predeceased by his parents and son Kerry, Patrick is survived by his loving wife Yvonne, daughter Cassandra of Dresden, sons Christopher of Boothbay and Kevin of Winterport, granddaughters Whitney of Belfast and Caitlin and her mother Shelley of Winterport and grandson Conor of the US Navy.

A Memorial Service will be held on Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Road, Boothbay. A burial will take place at the VA Cemetery in Augusta at a later date.
