Security business re-opens
Jackie Cunha spent Tuesday morning painting the clapboard siding on a building she and her husband Christopher Cunha purchased in June. They plan to re-open their security business – Twin City Security Solutions.
Even though they have yet to restore the building, customers who know their business as Twin City Lock and Key have been requesting services.
A fire destroyed the company's 40-foot-by-100-foot steel building and its contents on the Chewonki Neck Road one Sunday afternoon last February. Since then, the couple and their three sons have been rebuilding their business.
“This is a better location,” Jackie Cunha said. The building they purchased is the site of the former Maine Country Store, a big, yellow, wood structure that for years advertised Wyeth prints. She said the owners were anxious to sell. “It worked out well for everybody.”
Cunha said it took considerable work to restore the building. The floors were sagging and rotted, the paint had peeled and the overall structure needed to be strengthened. The family has worked together to fix up the old, 1970s-era building.
“It's been very gratifying,” Cunha said.
The name change does not mean to indicate that the company is offering a change in service. Since they started their business in Massachusetts 25 years ago offering lock and key services, they have progressed into alarm installation and monitoring and newer lock technologies.
According to their website (www.tcssco.com), they offer services for closed circuit television, window and door security and encrypted and high security keys, to fulfill commercial, residential and automotive needs.
They have held onto their Chewonki Neck Road property and plan to warehouse equipment there. Cunha said they will have a grand opening when they have completed the restoration project.
