Senior Animal Fund gets large donation through partnership with The Animal House
The Lincoln County Animal Shelter and Coastal Humane Society are the recipients of over $3,000 in dog food, cat food and treats to feed their senior population, courtesy of The Animal House in Damariscotta, through partnerships with Natura Pet Products and Natural Balance, Inc.
Animal House President Aubrey Martin reached out to her manufacturer and distributor contacts, in the hopes that the would be willing to donate food and supplements for aging pets awaiting their forever homes at the shelters.
The Senior Fund at both shelters was started in memory of longtime LCAS Board member Kelly Patton Brook, a dear friend to Martin and an important advocate for dogs and cats in need.
Natura Pet Products and Natural Balance came through in a big way, donating a pallet of senior dog and cat food and eighty-five boxes of treats. According to Martin, "The idea is that the dogs and cats look and feel better being on high quality food, in the hopes that they will be more adoptable."
Halo Pet Products has also agreed to donate through their "5000 Bowls" campaign, which should be arriving in a few weeks. Supplement company The Pet Health People LLC will be providing joint, immunity and heart health supplements in January, also through their partnership with The Animal House.
"We are so fortunate to work with our representatives, Jodi Langelotti from Pet Food Experts, Rick Frautten from Natura, Kristen Harris from Natural Balance, Kathleen Brennan from Halo and Amy Paris from Pet Health People who organized and supplied the donations. Hundreds of dogs and cats in our community will benefit from the high quality food and supplements provided in the coming months."
The Kelly Brook Memorial Senior Fund has also raised over $4,000 in the past month. The funds will be used to waive the adoption fee for seniors dogs and cats and both shelters. The Animal House has been a donation spot for funds, which was then matched by an anonymous $2,500 donor. The Animal House has a goal of reaching $5,000- the equivalent of adopting out 100 seniors with fees waived, by the end of November.
