Some changes to column birthday list
Poppy Moore, Alna's mail lady, wanted to thank the folks here for the food they donated. Lisa said, they collected over 250 pounds and thanks the box holders for all their kindness.
Would like to welcome Gabriel Duncan Lawrence to Alna. He was born May 6, to Albert and Sarah who live on the Alna Road. Congratulations to the Lawrence family.
The Committee for Alna History, would like to thank Bob Owen for volunteering to complete one sash for the Meeting House Sash Project. With volunteer help all the windows of the meetinghouse will be repaired, reglazed.
On June 23 at 3 p.m. the committee presents Summer Sunday Benefit Concert, Harp and Jubilee. Doreen Conboy-Cello, Suki Flanagan-Harp both live in Alna and Ellen Koches-Flute will perform works by Ravel, Elgat, Mendelssohn, Handel, Mozart, Hovhaness, Blake and more. Donation of $10, students $5 held at the Alna Meeting House on Route 218.
Peggy and Wayne Averill of Alna are pleased to announce the engagement of their son Sumner to Melissa Tilas. Melissa is the daughter of Lucinda and Nick Tilas of Wiscasset. They got engaged at Niagra Falls, on May 26. They have been together eight years and have planned their wedding for the fall of 2014.
Both are graduates of Wiscasset High School. Melissa works at Possibilities hair salon and Sumner works at the family business Ames Supply both in Wiscasset. Congratulations to one and all.
Sorry this is belated, Kathy P. sending happy birthday wishes to Steve Z. His birthday was June 9. Kathy works with the fire department and Steve is the caretaker at the railway station.
Just a note of explanation on birthday wishes not being done anymore. I had one person very angry that their name was in column in birthday list. So please if you have someone you want wished happy birthday email or call me the week before, column has to be in on Monday by noon at racelady23@yahoo.com or 207-350-0385.
Last week was crazy at the office, I think everyone went out and got a new car. Amy had the biggest registration pack for Augusta we have ever seen.
