Started college but never finished?
At Wiscasset Adult & Community Education, we love receiving phone calls like this: Mary went to college after high school, but life got in the way and she eventually left college to raise and support a family. The years flew by and after her children were grown, she found she could not advance in her job without a college degree. Mary was unsure about where to turn for help, but was excited to discover our Welcome Back College program. Through a College Access Challenge Grant from the Finance Authority of Maine, we are able to assist and support former college students like Mary in their return to higher education. Best of all, all the services provided by Welcome Back College are free.
Welcome Back College is still accepting students. We provide a wide range of services to adults re-entering the college environment, including Personal Higher Ed Navigators who meet with students regularly to offer intensive support in a variety of areas, such as those listed below.
There is no cost for these services:
-College search and selection
-Admissions application preparation
-Transcript retrieval
-Financial aid application and financial literacy instruction
-Career decision-making
-Prior learning assessments
-Peer networking and study groups
-Navigating distance learning technologies: ITV, videoconferencing, Blackboard, Maine Street and hybrid programming
-Ongoing assistance to facilitate success
Eligibility requirements: Lincoln or Sagadahoc County resident who has attended college in the past, but did not receive a degree.
Mary took advantage of many of these services and is now attending college. She well on her way and her future is bright. For more information, call Wiscasset Adult & Community Education at 207-882-9710, and talk with a Personal Higher Education Navigator.
