WHS in rehearsal for One Acts competition

Wiscasset High School’s Drama is in the midst of rehearsal for the Regional One Act Festival.
This year’s performance is “The Unknown Soldier” by Warren Frost. “The Unknown Soldier” is set in November 1863 in Pennsylvania. Three different families come together to mourn the loss of their loved ones lost in various battles of the Civil War.
On this particular day, Jesse and Lucas Foley have just buried their son, Artie, who died at the Battle of Gettysburg. Artie’s friend, a corporal in the army, drops by to pay tribute to the Foley’s son. The families invite him to a combined birthday party of the dead soldiers. The Corporal is not prepared for the families’ grief and how they deal with it.
This year’s performance is directed by senior Charlene Reed in her debut as a director. Fulfilling the various roles are seniors Ridge Barnes (Lucas Foley), Tyler Flavin (Corporal), Katie-Lyn Mills (Jesse Foley) and Jasmine Smith (Cora Miter); junior Sam Arsenault (Edna); and freshman Ryan Medina (Bert Miter).
A preview performance is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the WHS gym. Please plan to attend this thought-provoking play to lend your support, as well as your advice, to these talented students.
