Winter migratory bird walk Dec. 4
Join Kennebec Estuary Land Trust’s Community Engagement Manager, Tyler Pascocello and Maine Master Naturalist volunteers for a winter bird walk at Reid State Park on Thursday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m.
Winter can be an underrated time for birding along the coast of Maine, as it is home to a lot of unique migratory species. Come join us at Reid State Park to see how many birds we can spot and how to identify some migratory species outside of their breeding plumage. Experience why birders in Maine refer to this time of year as “weird duck season."
We will plan to meet at the East Beach parking lot (first lot you will come across on your left). Plan to bring appropriate footwear and plenty of layers as it can get quite windy at Reid! We will planon doing no more than a mile of walking, mostly on the paths/roadways along the shore. Binoculars are heavily encouraged. Registration is encouraged: kennebecestuary.org/upcoming-events/migratory-bird-walk
