Dale Edward Pinkham, 82, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on October 12, 2025.

Born in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, on May 29, 1943, to Floyd Irving Pinkham and Mary Elizabeth Ifell (Lewis), Dale grew up along the Maine coast before moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he graduated from Stranahan High School in 1962.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1967 as a radar technician aboard a submarine for temporary duty, the USS Holmes County (LST-836), and USS Sarsfield (DD-925), earning a Medal of Honor for his service. In 1965, he married Carol Marie Tinsman, and together they had one daughter, Tracy Marie Pinkham.

Following his military service, Dale studied electronic engineering at Miami Dade Junior College and enjoyed an extensive career with Penn Engineering, Marine Resources, and Raytheon (RTX) in Rhode Island. In the 1990s, he returned to Florida, where he later joined Publix Super Markets, delighting customers with his warmth and humor for more than 20 years before retiring with accolades and fond memories.

Dale loved the outdoors—especially golf, basketball, windsurfing, and exploring the Maine coast. He cherished time spent with his daughter and family, passing down his love of photography, travel, and golf to future generations.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Irving and Albina Barter Pinkham; parents; and sister, Amber Ferris. He is survived by his daughter, Tracy (Vince) Haigh of Ormond Beach; grandchildren Alan (Grace), Ashley (Michael), and Joshua; great-grandchildren Madilynn, Alan Jr., Cameron, Jhett, Stella, and Sophie; nephews Kris and Michael; and great-nieces Arianna and Coral.
