Edgecomb Eddy Road is closed this morning after a piece of construction equipment, an excavator, got tangled in some wires bringing down several lines and making the road impassable.
Central Maine Power is on the scene as well as the Edgecomb Fire Department.
According to Tony Casella, Walter Brewer, one of his laborers, had no permission to operate the excavator. “I don’t know whatever possessed him to get in the (excavator). This is going to cost me thousands,” Casella said.
Brewer was not hurt in the accident but said it scared him. Brewer said he was watching the highest wire, but never saw the lower one. He said he was not licensed to operate the excavator, but that he knew how to and didn’t know whether he needed a license to operate it or not.
