Wiscasset Senior Center: Cassius Carr receives senior center scholarship

Wed, 05/14/2014 - 12:00pm

The Wiscasset Senior Center Scholarship Committee met on April 18 and decided that the recipient of this year's $1,000 scholarship would be Wiscasset High School senior, Cassius Carr. At the public supper last Wednesday the Scholarship Committee presented the $1,000 check to Cassius. He was scheduled to start in a Wiscasset High School baseball game that evening but delayed his appearance in order to be at the award ceremony.

Cassius is the son of Thomas and Stephanie Carr of Harpswell. The Carrs moved from Wiscasset to Harpswell in order to accept employment. Cassius remained in Wiscasset with family to finish his senior year at Wiscasset High School.

Cassius will be attending Southern Maine Community College. He plans to study business and pursue a career in culinary arts with the desire to open his own bakery in the future. While at Wiscasset High School, Cassius worked three separate jobs while still managing to participate in sports and the school play. A very ambitious young man, we wish Cassius every good fortune in his future.
