Woman walks away from overturned vehicle
Jessica Carroll, 24, of Jefferson, escaped serious injuries after her car flipped over on Route 218 in Wiscasset just after 8 a.m. Monday morning, Oct. 1.
Shannon Gilbert of Boothbay, who was nearly involved in the accident, stopped to assist Carroll. After the vehicle landed, Carroll walked out and sat Gilbert's pick up truck. The Wiscasset Ambulance Service later transported her to Mid Coast Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.
According to Gilbert, Carroll was driving a blue Volkswagen and traveling south on Route 218. Gilbert said he was traveling north. As he was going up a hill just north of Old Sheepscot Road, Carroll was coming down the hill in his lane. According to Wiscasset Police Chief Troy Cline, Carroll swerved back into her lane and lost control of her vehicle.
“I don’t know how I missed her, but was glad I did,” Gilbert said.
