Working group tackles homelessness in Lincoln County
Steve Ward will facilitate a discussion about his participation in the Ecumenical Working Group on Homelessness in Lincoln County at the Midcoast Unitarian Universalist service on Sunday, May 26 at Skidompha Library, Damariscotta. There are currently seven churches and congregations that have been involved in this effort.
The Working Group looks for ways of dealing with the varied types of homelessness that Lincoln County experiences. There will be an opportunity for discussion about the Working Group following the service at 11:30 a.m.
The Ecumenical Working Group on Homelessness began more than two years ago out of the real need in Lincoln County for help with this basic human right for shelter. The Working Group meets on a monthly basis at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Newcastle where Steve is a parishioner. 4The group reviews emergency requests made through the Second Congregational Church in Newcastle and its weekly Food Pantry, developing a response to these needs in the immediate time frame and in the longer term.
