Veggies to Table, a grow-to-donate farm, is one of four beneficiaries of the 2023 Gorham Savings Bank Maine Marathon in Portland on Sunday, Oct. 1. In addition to providing thousands of pounds of nutritious produce to hungry community members, Veggies to Table creates enduring community ties through its volunteer program and educates people about healthful food. The $15,750 award will provide vital support for Veggies to Table’s many activities.

To enable Veggies to Table to benefit even more from this event, they are recruiting supporters to run as individual fundraisers in either the marathon, half marathon, or the relay. Runners will help Veggies to Table make an even greater impact as they strive to ensure that no one must choose between eating or paying the rent.

To become a fundraiser, register for the marathon at https://runsignup.com/Race/14517/Charity/22810 and select "become a fundraiser” near the end of the process. Participating runners collect donations through a site that is set up after you register as a Veggies to Table fundraiser. Once you raise $200 or more your registration fee will be discounted to Early Bird prices. After the marathon, the donations will be distributed to Veggies to Table.

Additionally, as part of the award each non -profit must provide 80 volunteer hours to the Maine Marathon on marathon weekend.
