CTL students showcase two drama performances

On March 3, the fifth and sixth graders at Edgecomb’s Center for Teaching and Learning transformed themselves into amazing gods and goddesses who engaged in hilarious actions against mere mortals in the one-act play, “It’s All Greek to Me,” by Claudia Covington.
The seventh and eighth graders performed “The Seussddyssey” by Don Zolidis, in which Odysseus and his crew of 12 sailed from one dilemma to the next, encountering a mighty Cyclops, alluring Sirens and the frightening passage between Scylla and Charybdis, all narrated and spoken as a parody of Dr. Seuss.
The performances, directed by Pam Brackett with artistic design by Mary Beth Owens, are part of CTL’s year-long school-wide study of history, as well as ancient civilizations. The school’s drama program for grades 5-8 reflects CTL’s commitment to help students learn to raise their voices and assume a role in public discourse.
