Four car accident in Edgecomb
Traffic on Route 1 was tied up for more than an hour on Monday evening, Oct. 15, in the wake of a four car accident on Davis Island in Edgecomb. Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Rand Maker said Tuesday morning there were no injuries in the multiple car accident.
At about 5:45 p.m., James Coco, 42, Marshfield, Mass., was driving a 2007 Chevy Suburban southbound on Route 1. For reasons still unclear, the Suburban crossed the center line and sideswiped a 2010 Subaru Outback, operated by Lawrence Campbell, 69, Rockland. The Suburban then struck the car traveling behind the Subaru, a 2012 Volkswagon Passat, operated by Jonathan Stormont, 57, Damariscotta.
Because of its collision with the Suburban, the northbound Subaru crossed over into the southbound lane and was struck by a Volkswagon Jetta traveling south, operated by Stacey Linehan, 41, Westport Island. The Volkswagon Jetta was the only vehicle carrying passengers.
