Garden Club of Wiscasset's annual plant sale May 9
Just a reminder that the Garden Club of Wiscasset will hold its annual plant sale on May 9 from 8:30 a.m. until noon indoors at the Municipal Building in Wiscasset, located on the corner of Routes 1 and 27. The sale will be held rain or shine.
The annual plant sale is the major fundraiser supporting both our scholarship fund and our beautification projects. The Garden Club annually donates scholarships to a high school senior from the surrounding towns pursuing a higher education in horticultural or related studies. Our beautification projects encompass many gardens in the Wiscasset area, including the Nichols Sortwell House, the library and the Cancer Center in Bath among many others.
We will be selling perennial plants including peonies, bleeding hearts, hostas, daylilies and phlox, as well as shrubs, such as forsythia, beach roses and lilacs. These plants and shrubs are supplied from the gardens of some of the club’s more than 90 members as well as local gardens whose owners “want to share their plants with us.”
If you feel that your yard needs some tidying up and are interested in sharing some plants, we would be happy to do the digging. Your contributions do not have to be potted. They can be submitted in clumps that Club members can then divide and pot. Anyone interested in contributing may phone either Charlene Sassi (207-563-6054) or Priscilla Hansen (207-882-6379).
