Wiscasset Ambulance Attendants Association emblem contest winner announced
A 2012 Wiscasset High School graduate recently won the Wiscasset Ambulance Attendants Association’s emblem design contest.
The recently re-activated association’s contest asked students to submit a drawing of a proposed emblem to represent the association. Brandon Bailey’s entry was selected from three entries as the winner of the contest. Bailey received an award of $300.
Bailey said one of his goals is to become a full-time firefighter, and he is currently taking classes to accomplish that goal.
Association President David Renfro said he wanted to thank the other two entrants in the contest, Jade Wood and Michaela Trudeau, for their participation. “It was a very difficult decision because all three entries were very good,” he said.
The Ambulance Attendants Association’s objective is to assist the Wiscasset Ambulance Service by holding fundraisers to raise money for such things as training, equipment and other needs of the ambulance service.
Recently the association purchased a cotton candy machine and will be selling cotton candy on July 4 in back of the fire station in the morning and on the waterfront later in the day.
According to Renfro, there are currently 35 members in the association and new members are needed. Membership is open to anyone who wants to be involved with helping the town ambulance service to grow. “It is also an opportunity for people who do not want to work on the ambulance to be involved.” Renfro said.
The new emblem will be printed on the Association’s letterheads, and on baseball caps and shirts for the members and to sell to the public to support the Ambulance Service.
