Healthy Kids receives donation from Rising Tide Community Market
Rising Tide Community Market in Damariscotta recently donated $257.35 to Damariscotta-based nonprofit Healthy Kids as part of its Co-ops for Community Day program. Each month, Rising Tide donates .5 percent of Wednesday sales to a local non-profit organization chosen by the co-op’s member-owners. Healthy Kids received the October 2015 Co-ops for Community Day donation.
Healthy Kids is focused on preventing child abuse and neglect in Lincoln County, and promoting healthy family environments. Since 1985, Healthy Kids has offered programs designed to help parents, caregivers, and professionals in raising emotionally, physically, and cognitively healthy children. They offer support and educational outreach to families throughout Lincoln County through services such as parenting classes, playgroups, and home visitation. More information is available on their website, www.healthykidsmaine.com.
Rising Tide’s Co-ops for Community Day recipient for the month of December is Rising Tide's Community Investment Fund, which provides grants of $100-300 to support local groups working in the areas of environment, community, food and hunger, and cooperatives. Grant applications are available at: www.risingtide.coop/cif. Past grant recipients include Rippling Waters Farm’s agricultural education program, the Heirloom Seed Project at MVHS, and Ashwood Waldorf School’s garden.
In 2016, .5 percent of Rising Tide’s Wednesday sales will benefit Skidompha Library in January, The Carpenter’s Boatshop in February, and New Hope for Women in March. Want to see your favorite nonprofit on the list? The nomination period is from February 1 to March 15 each year.
