Alna selectmen set a special meeting for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8  to open two more fire truck bids not discovered by the time the board opened several others, and voted to accept one, on Dec. 2. The two additional bids arrived at the Alna post office before the Dec. 2 meeting, but they came certified mail at a time when no one was at the town office to take them, First Selectman David Abbott said Monday.

So the board will open them Tuesday night, which may or may not change last week’s decision to accept a Westbrook man’s $4,300 bid on the 1986 GMC fire truck, Abbott said. The bidder, Paul Cloutier, was contacted about the new development and had no problem with the board’s plans to open the other two bids, Abbott said.

Tuesday’s meeting starts at 6 p.m. at the town office.
