Town clerk resigns
The Westport Island Selectmen accepted the resignation of Town Clerk Pam Frenier at their weekly meeting July 2, and appointed Sandra Crehore to that position temporarily until all the details can be worked out.
Frenier has served as town clerk for the past three years.
“I have decided the job no longer suits me,” she wrote in her resignation letter. She also thanked the selectmen for all the help they have given her.
She said during the past three years she has learned a lot about town government.
The selectmen accepted her resignation with regret and will send Frenier a letter of appreciation for her dedication.
Crehore, who will replace Frenier, is no stranger to the town office; she previously served the town as a secretary and bookkeeper. She was recently elected to represent the town on the Sheepscot Valley RSU 12.
The selectmen made 72 committee appointments at their meeting, which included the one-year appointments of Deedee Greenleaf Hodgdon as tax collector, municipal agent, deputy treasurer, deputy town clerk, and deputy registrar of voters. Susan Partelow was appointed treasurer and administrative assistant for the town.
Amos Greenleaf was appointed as the constable and animal control officer, Roger Higgins was appointed director of Emergency Management and Civil Defense and Gaye Wagner was appointed his deputy.
Gary Richardson was appointed as the town’s code enforcement officer with deputy Ronald Stoodley.
According to Selectman Gerald Bodmer, Westport Island has well over 100 volunteers serving on town committees, many of which serve on more than one committee. “We are very thankful for these volunteers, and their willingness to serve,” he said.
