Omer W. Reed
Omer Waldron Reed, beloved husband, father, and cherished member of the Boothbay Harbor community, passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2025, at the age of 83, at the Sussman House in Rockport.
Born on Nov. 17, 1941, in Boothbay Harbor, Omer was a lifelong resident of the beautiful Maine coast that he loved so dearly.
Omer graduated from Boothbay Region High School in the Class of 1959. After completing his high school education, he embarked on a rewarding career, which began with Coastal Geological and continued at Carbone's before finding a lasting home at Gimbel's of Maine, where he worked until his retirement. Throughout his career, Omer was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his joyful demeanor and his ability to bring smiles to those around him.
He will forever be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, and unwavering positivity. Omer found joy in the simple pleasures of life, whether it was hunting, fishing, or camping at First Roach in Greenville with family and friends. His infectious happiness and even-keeled personality left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Omer was predeceased by his parents, a sister Beverly Dauphinee, and a granddaughter Katie Reed. He is survived by his devoted wife, Constance Reed, of Boothbay Harbor; son Kenneth Reed and partner Rebecca Ware of Nobleboro; daughter Nancy Condon and spouse Cliff of Saco; sister Hilda Hall of Boothbay; and a loving network of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
The family will honor his wishes and celebrate Omer privately.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sussman House in Rockport, a testament to the compassionate care he received in his final days. Omer's legacy of love and warmth will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends, as they remember the harmonious life he led.
