Blessing of the animals will take place on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. on Wiscasset Common in front of First Congregational Church of Wiscasset.

According to Rev. John Hogue, the purpose of the blessings is to recognize the interconnectedness between God, creation and all living beings. The blessing also serves as an act of stewardship, acknowledging the church's care and concern for God's creation. Rev. Hogue added that the blessing celebrates the love between humans and animals and expresses gratitude for the joy and companionship they bring. All are welcome to bring their animals and companions.
