Spring is the time when our thoughts turn to gardening, and Adult Ed is offering three classes you’ll want to take. Paint a creative design on a clay pot for your deck or patio, discover new and unexpected annuals for your garden, and learn about organic vegetable gardening. Become more
familiar with the features of Windows 7, or learn how to become a notary public in Maine.
Take Glazed Garden Pots on Tuesday, April 2, 6-8 p.m. Give your garden, deck, or home a splash of color. to paint flowers, abstract shapes, seashells, or your own design on a clay pot. Decorative clay pots are great for containers for an outdoor party, or filled with a plant or seeds to give as a gift. The cost is $15, plus $8 paid to the instructor.
Grow Your Own Organic Garden on Wednesday, April 3, is a one evening workshop from 6 to 9 p.m. Grow your own vegetables in a sustainable manner, learn about enriching your soil to produce healthy plants. composting, natural insect control, and much more. This workshop is presented by Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners. Registration fee: $5 plus $5 paid to instructor at class. Please register by April 1.
Anisdontea “Slightly Strawberry” and Salvia farinacea “Fairy Queen” Annuals Join Coastal Maine Botanical Garden horticulturist, Dick Zieg, on Monday, April 8, to learn about some of the Unexpected Annuals he’ll be planting this Spring such as are a great way to add variety and color to your gardens, yard, or deck. Get practical tips about planting annuals, blooming habits, and how to care for them. The time is 6-7:30 p.m., the fee is $8.
New to Windows 7 or just want to learn more about it? Take Windows 7 Tips and Tricks to expand your knowledge and learn to utilize all its features. Customize start and quick launch menus, protect your data, tweak settings to fit your personal style, customize internet toolbars, and manage applications. The class meets on April 8 and 10 from 6-8 p.m., and the cost is $28.
Notary Public, on April 9, 10 and 11, 6-7:30 p.m., is for anyone who is going to apply for a notary commission in Maine and notaries who have not attended any educational classes. Discussion will include history, legislation, powers duties, qualifications, and procedures of a notary public as well as performing weddings, changes in the law, and updates. An application to file with the Secretary of State is included. The fee is $45.
