Film shows better model for meat production

The film "American Meat" first looks at the feedlots and confinement operations of our current industrial meat production system, as seen through the eyes of the farmers who live and work there. Then the story shifts to Polyface Farms, where the Salatin family has developed an alternative and far healthier agricultural model based on rotational grazing and local distribution.
This new documentary film will be shown on Friday, May 15, 7 p.m., at the FARMS Community Kitchen, 323 Main Street, Damariscotta (entrance at the rear of the Rising Tide Market). The film is free and reservations are not required. Donations may be made to benefit the work of the FARMS teaching team.
