Hoping for a week of sunshine
Birthdays the week of April 19 to 25 are: Rebecca Bowes, Frank Carleton, Laura Beerits, Jacob Whittey, Mike Christopher, Darice Hutchins, Owen Cotta, Mark Desmueles, James Hall, Tobiah Johnson, Sally Dagget, Jeffrey Spinny and Kevin Sleeman. May you have lots of love and best wishes sent your way.
My friend Carol couldn't wait for the first bean supper. She said, “The food is so good, the variety of beans, salads, breads and pies to choose from gets bigger every year.” Cindy's donation list update was successful. The turnout was really great. I wondered if the Woolwich Grange having one, too, would make a difference. Nope, it didn't.
My piece of coconut pie was the best I've had for long time. They had a pie auction but because some folks couldn’t stay for it, the chief put out some to sell beforehand. Good idea on his part. The members want to thank all who came out to support the department and all who cooked for the event.
The lawn has been raked and parking lot cleaned of sand, thanks to the hard work of Two Bridges Jail inmates; they were up on Sunday, April 7. Looks nice.
Sending congratulations to Mark Webber and Sue Anderson on their upcoming marriage in October. They were all smiles Saturday while working the supper.
The Hidden Valley Nature Center is having a Community Open House on April 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out the Kettlehole Bog ecosystem by walking out on the boardwalk. Other events that day include: fly-tying, African drumming, vernal pool walk, Quest (nature based treasure hunt), Trail Guys and viewing the assembly of the timber framing being constructed in a four-day class. There will be a special membership rate available at the open house. For more information, email cody@hvnc.org or call 207-200-8840.
Have a hopefully sunshine filled week. If not sunny, rain is good for the gardens and we all benefit. The flowers and veggies are on their way.
