One of the Midcoast’s favorite summer traditions is back! The 54th annual North Nobleboro Day will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the North Nobleboro Community Hall on Upper East Pond Road. Now in its fifth decade, this lively community celebration continues to draw crowds of locals and visitors with a winning mix of food, music, and community spirit.

The day kicks off at 9 a.m. with the much-anticipated Trash & Treasures sale inside the Community Hall. Dedicated volunteers have spent weeks sorting and pricing an ever-growing assortment of yard sale finds. Early birds will also enjoy browsing the craft booth for handmade items and placing bids in the silent auction, all while savoring a hot cup of coffee and a homemade doughnut or muffin from the food booths. Those with a sweet tooth should act fast. Homemade fudge disappears quickly!

At 10 a.m., the music begins with a performance by North Nobleboro favorite Debbie Myers and  Redneck Rodeo. With a career of performances at East Coast and Canadian venues, Debbie has become a North Nobleboro Day institution, known for her heartfelt tributes to Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and Reba McEntire. A two-time winner of the Maine Academy of Country Music’s Top Honors for Best Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year, she’s sure to get toes tapping. Then from 1 to 4 p.m., the acoustic duo No Spring Chickens will take the stage with original songs and fresh takes on folk, country, rock, and blues classics, all delivered with rich harmonies and guitar duets. Also, this year, Nobleboro’s own Noelle Vinal will be performing favorites under the auction tent from 1 to 3 p.m.

Under the tent, the silent auction will be in full swing with more than 50 items donated by individuals and businesses throughout the region. Winners will be announced later in the day—you don’t need to be present to win.

There will be facepainting for the kids, and grab bags for sale. When lunchtime rolls around, follow your nose to the chicken BBQ line, where North Nobleboro’s dedicated pit crew serves up half-chickens marinated in a secret recipe and slow-roasted to perfection. Dinners include coleslaw, a dinner roll, chips, and a drink. For something different, try a hot dog with fried onions and delicious hand-cut French fries. No North Nobleboro Day would be complete without a generous helping of homemade pie, lovingly baked by local pie makers. Classic flavors like apple, blueberry, chocolate cream, and pumpkin are joined each year by surprise local favorites, so try something new this year! Food is served from 11 a.m. until it’s gone. 

North Nobleboro Day is held rain or shine;  admission and parking are free. The community grounds are located at the intersection of East Pond Road and Upper East Pond Road, about three miles from Route 1 in Nobleboro or Route 32 in Jefferson. Guests are encouraged to bring friends, an appetite, and plenty of cash; there’s no ATM on site.
