Overnight paving along Route 1 in Woolwich
Crews have started a paving project along Route 1 in Woolwich from the Bath Bridge over the Kennebec River to the railroad overpass near the Taste of Maine restaurant as well as along the Arrowsic Road to the Max Wilder Bridge.
All work will be done from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. No work will be performed from Friday at 6 a.m. until Sunday at 7 p.m. The project will be active until June 20th and then be suspended for the summer. A final layer of pavement will be applied in the fall, after the Labor Day holiday.
The Tallman Road ramp off Route 1 south to the Arrowsic Road will be closed at some point during the night of May 17th into the 18th and will not be reopened until 6:00 a.m. Friday, May 22nd. A temporary traffic signal will direct motorists left, directly onto the Arrowsic Road during the closure.
One lane of traffic in each direction will remain open for motorists along Route 1 during the paving project.
In addition to new pavement, a new traffic pattern will be painted onto the roadway to allow for improved bicycle access.
Pike Industries, Inc. of Fairfield will perform this $1.2 million project.
