Written and directed by first-time feature filmmaker Hasan Hadi, who knows the storytelling terrain firsthand, having grown up in Iraq under Hussein’s rule. Opens Friday at Lincoln Theater.
"Midwinter Break" - (PG-13; 1 hour, 30 minutes) - A stirring meditation on faith, commitment, and the enduring power of love, as a longtime couple takes a life-changing trip to Amsterdam. Final showing Thursday, April 9 at 2 p.m.
"Mountainfilm on Tour," Damariscotta 2026 (approx. running time: 2 hours) - Join Friends of Great Salt Bay School for the 7th annual “Mountainfilm on Tour!” Using the power of film, art and ideas, Mountainfilm inspires audiences to create a better world. Mountainfilm festival brings together a community of filmmakers and change makers, showcasing documentary films that celebrate adventure, activism, social justice, environment and indomitable spirit.
Presented by Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust, Renys and Rising Tide Co-op, this annual Damariscotta screening is a fundraiser for the Great Salt Bay PTO and supports outdoor education related efforts and activities at GSB. One screening only Thursday, April 9 at 7 p.m. Tickets: $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and $5 for student in advance and at the door.
"The President's Cake" - (PG-13; 1 hour, 45 minutes - in Arabic with English subtitles) - While people across 1990's Iraq struggle to survive, 9-year old Lamia has been selected to prepare a cake to celebrate the President's birthday. In a landscape of fear and scarcity, where basic ingredients are nearly impossible to find, Lamia sets out on a determined journey throughout the big city in search of eggs, flour, and sugar. Accompanied by her grandmother, her loyal friend Saeed, and her pet rooster Hindi, she navigates vendors and police officers along the way. Playing Friday, April 10 at 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, April 11 at 2 and 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 15 at 2 p.m. and Thursday, April 16 at 1 (note early start time) and 7 p.m. Presented in partnership with Damariscotta River Grill.
"Hop" - Free - (PG; 1 hour, 35 minutes) - Beneath Easter Island, in a giant factory that manufactures the world's Easter candy, the popular rabbit is preparing to pass the mantle to his son, E.B. (Russell Brand). But E.B. has no interest in the job and would rather be a drummer. He runs away to Los Angeles, where an unemployed slacker named Fred O'Hare (James Marsden) accidentally runs into him. Feigning injury, E.B. tricks Fred into giving him shelter, but an oversized chick is planning a coup back on Easter Island.
