Westport Island artwork sought for anniversary display
The Westport Community Association is heavily involved in the planning of its 60th birthday/anniversary celebration on Aug. 16 at the historic town hall, which is located about five miles south of the bridge from Wiscasset. They have divided the workload by subcommittees to share the responsibilities for the many aspects of the day.
Susan Bowditch is heading one such committees and is organizing a display of the work of artists and artisans from Westport Island on Aug. 16. She is still looking for additional artisans and artists who would like to display their work that day.
Please contact Bowditch if you would like to exhibit one or two examples of your best work during the celebration. She would like to include additional paintings, quilts, sculptures, carvings, pottery, jewelry, items made of fiber or fabric, and other original handmade pieces. All Westport Islanders who submit examples of their work will be included with at least one piece. More pieces than that will be considered as space allows. Although this is not a sale, exhibitors are welcome to leave their business cards at their exhibition sites.
Please contact Bowditch by email at susanbowditch@hotmail.com if you have any questions or wish to participate, no later than June 16.
To be considered, please send Bowditch one or two digital photos with approximate dimensions or a physical photo with the same information, of your finest work for consideration. Use her email or send by regular mail to: Susan Bowditch, 32 Castle Lane, Westport Island, ME 04578.
We are eager to have as many of our Westport artists and artisans represented at this exhibit as possible.
Remember, the final date to contact Bowditch is June 16. The 60th anniversary display will take place on Sunday, Aug. 16 at the old Town Hall.
