with Jim Doble, April Reed-Cox, and Toji Perlman
Sunday May 17th 2- 3:30pm
This is to be an extraordinary Sonic experience/ Gong bath/ Sound meditation
The powerful synergy of the deep musical swells of Gongs and Cello, with the high soaring sounds of the Shakuhachi (Japanese Flute) will help transport you into another dimension. Think of this as a Sonic Meditation, where one lies down with closed eyes and lets the sound carry you deep into another consciousness. Here, you are given the space to let go of unhealthy belief patterns and let your brain and soul re-form in a more synchronistic way.
Please bring whatever you need to be comfortable (ie. Yoga mat, blanket, pillow, water, etc.) Some yoga mats will be available.
Sound therapist, Jim Doble, teaches and plays a variety of gongs and other percussion throughout Maine and abroad.
April Reed-Cox is an incredibly versatile and expressive teacher and Cellist. She plays for the Bangor Symphony and around Maine.
Toji Kaido Perlman, who grew up in Greenwood and now lives in Portland, is a Shihan (Master) Shakuhachi player and dedicated teacher. He began his studies with Phil Nyokai James before training under Kurahashi Yodo II in Japan. Over the past two decades, Toji has developed a deeply rooted and nuanced style that honors tradition while inviting personal interpretation.
