Brenda Bettinson Ravensbrück Series presentation
Cordula Mathias, administrator of the Bettinson Art and Literary Trust, will present a PowerPoint presentation slide show with information about the genesis of the Brenda Bettinson Ravensbrück Series at Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, 4 Oak St. in Boothbay Harbor on Wednesday, Aug. 27 at 5:30 p.m. The talk will take approximately 45 minutes with time for a Q & A portion afterwards.
The Ravensbrück Series by the late Brenda Bettinson is a collection of 17 paintings created with acrylic paint and pencil on board, panel and fabric. The artist was moved to create the works after she read Sarah Helm’s book, "Ravensbrück: Life and Death in Hitler’s Concentration Camp for Women" chronicling the brutal treatment and murder of the women imprisoned at the concentration camp.
Bettinson’s Ravensbrück Series is currently on view at The Holocaust and Human Rights Center in Augusta through Sept. 19. This group of works constitutes the last series created by the late painter. These emotionally charged paintings are on public view for the first time in Maine after having been shown at Pace University in New York in April 2024.
Don't miss the opportunity to acquaint yourself with an impressive body of work by an exceptional painter. Additional information can be found at https://bbhlibrary.org/event/bettinson/
