First Congo gets new pastor
First Congregational Church of Wiscasset will welcome the Reverend John R. Hogue as its settled pastor Sept. 1.
Known affectionately as Rev. John, he brings his expertise in leadership, fundraising, team building, mission outreach, and social justice to the Wiscasset community. In his preaching, Rev. John engages the congregation with humor and storytelling, presenting scripture in ways that resonate with today’s listeners.
Rev. John comes to Wiscasset after serving three rural congregations in northern Maine (Weld UCC, Shorey Chapel UCC and Mexico UCC), traveling 92 miles each Sunday to fulfill his ministry. He is a graduate of Waynesburg University and holds a Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.
Rev. John and his wife, Veronica, look forward to enjoying life on the Midcoast, spending time kayaking, and exploring the unique culinary spots the Wiscasset area has to offer.
