Edgecomb residents will make two trips to the polls May 17. Earlier this year, selectmen opted to hold a referendum town meeting to decide municipal business. The municipal election will run from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the town hall.

On April 28, Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust closed on the purchase of its largest independent acquisition to date in the town of Newcastle. The 270-acre Deer Meadow Brook Preserve is part of a block of nearly 4,700 acres of undeveloped wildlife habitat along Deer Meadow Brook.

For over a decade, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens has opened its doors and hosted Mainers at no cost to them during Maine Days. This year, 10,000 free tickets will be released on Monday, May 12, for the three-day event taking place on May 30, 31, and June 1.

When the dead go unclaimed
